Early detection of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAD) through quick and precise determination of the ankle-arm index
(ABI, ankle -brachial index).
The knuckle-arm index is an important indicator for predicting heart attack, stroke, and death.
An ABI value of less than 0.9, in comparison with the angiogram as the gold standard, indicates PAOD with a sensitivity of up to 95% and, conversely, excludes with almost 100% specificity in healthy people.
Additional determination of the pulse wave velocity for the diagnosis of the vascular stiffness.
An increase in the pulse wave velocity indicates an increase in the rigidity of the arterial vessels, which occurs as arteriosclerosis progresses.
The measurement with the ABI system can also be carried out in a very short time without preparation. The actual measurement
only takes about 1 minute.
The data is automatically transferred to the software installed on the PC using the supplied USB cable and the ABI value is calculated.
The software includes an internal patient database, a graphic evaluation of the measured values and a GDT interface
for transferring the data to the practice EDP.
The software is network compatible. You can therefore carry out the recording in a separate room. The doctor
can then view the values on any other PC in the practice network.
