CareFusion MPE8200EU MicroPeak (EU Scale) Peak Flow Meter

Designed to meet the new European (EN13826) standards in performance, including a high visibility scale and in-built Colour-Zone asthma management system that won’t wash off. Unlike other PFM’s the advanced design of MicroPeak means dismantling is avoided, thus protecting the integrity of the internal mechanism, also an internal check valve avoids cross infection concerns.

The new standard specifies one measurement range from 60 l/min to 800 l/min that is suitable for all users (1) (MicroPeak actually exceeds the new standard by having a range of 60 l/min to 900 l/min).

Why will EU MicroPeak be superior to other EU PFM’s on the market

All meters currently available on the drug tariff (except MicroPeak) are designs that are at least 20 years old and were designed specifically to meet the needs of the old Wright scale. MicroPeak is the only PFM that was designed with the new European standard in mind (while it was being designed it was actually called ‘EuroPeak’). The implications of this will be obvious once you compare EU MicroPeak to other EU PFM’s on the market… The scale is easier to read and suffers minimal ‘bunching’. The MiniWright EU PFM, for example, may be difficult to read in some cases, because the increments change from 10 l/min to 20 l/min… this may lead to some confusion when reading off peak flow scores.

The new EU MicroPeak also features the innovative adjustable zoning system for asthma management, with red, amber and green zones that, unlike other PFM’s on the market, won’t wash off. In addition to this, the internal check valve will minimise cross infection concerns.
