Test for the quantitative determination of bioactive adrenomedullin. Adrenomedullin is a hormone with a vasodilating effect and an influence on blood pressure. As hormone levels rise, a patient's blood pressure drops. This increases the risk of circulatory failure and the likelihood of shock. The bio-ADM ® allows close monitoring of endothelial function at the point of care and improved shock management. While critically high concentrations of the biomarker can support the decision to treat with vasopressors, a falling concentration of the surrogate marker indicates a successful therapy.
