If a kid has a Grade II/III ankle sprain, a stable fibula, talus, calcaneus, or medial malleolus fracture, following ligament, soft tissue, or tendon surgery, or a forefoot or midfoot injury, the paediatric walker boot is designed to be worn.
It is utilised to improve propulsion and minimise the force of heel strike on the foot. A rocker shape on the bottom of the boot allows for a more regular gait. The boot has a curved design that supports the foot while also being shock absorbent to decrease the impact and pressure from walking.
